When I first started as a real estate agent, I was really excited and ready to dive in the game full time. Since I had already quit my job back in March 2019 before getting my license, I already knew what it was like to hustle in order to make ends meet without having a traditional job. When I became a real estate agent, I found out that it wasn't as easy as some others made it look to get clients and quickly had to learn how to make a few quick bucks related to the real estate industry while trying to market myself in my new career.

As a new real estate agent, getting clients in the beginning can be very difficult especially if you don't have people that are ready to buy as soon as you get your license. Although I was doing other things to make money in the meantime, I still wanted to find a way to earn money in real estate in an effort to network and meet potential clients.

One way I started making money in real estate is by being a showing agent. Some real estate agents who have been in the game for a while have the potential to not be able to assist them all and need a little help. What I did was create a flyer in Canva to market myself as a "showing agent" (see flyer below) and ended up landing a gig to show houses for a broker in Kentucky. She begin to send me her clients she had here in Georgia. She connected them to me via group text and I would carry on the text chat by reaching out to her client to schedule viewings for the houses they wanted to see. At first I charged her a fee per door, but we eventually worked out a better pay arrangement to where we would split her commission 50/50 after her client closed on their home.

Showami is another way to make some money as a showing agent. It's an app that you can use to get showing jobs from other agents who don't have time to show their clients properties of their choice. Once you get in, you can use your referral code as well to share with other agents and earn money from the referral code.

Here's how you get started with Showami here.

Being an admin for other agents or a broker is another way to earn money. A lot of seasoned agents have tons of clients that they need to respond to emails and voicemails, but they don't have a lot of time to do so. You can get hired on as their admin person and make an income while you build your own clientele.

Hosting open houses is also a way to potentially earn income. If you decide to host an open house for another agent, you can make a written agreement with them to allow you to give your information to the potential buyers who attend the open house. This is a way to get your name out there by giving your contact information to all the people who show up for the open house You can also charge the agent for hosting the open house as well by the hour. I normally charge around $50/hour and will ask for a minimum of 4 hours in order to make it worth my while.

These are just a few ways I discovered to earn money in the real estate industry as a new agent. This way I can earn while I learn. Hope this helps someone.

Good luck in your new career as a real estate agent.
